It’s likely the deal includes an invite to spring training, but no official word just yet. The 28-year-old showed promise not long ago, but has dealt with injuries that have limited him to just 12 2/3 innings over his last three campaigns. If healthy, he could compete for a bullpen spot in the Cactus League, but he’ll need to be added to the 40-man roster to pitch for the Rangers.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #66
Sborz missed significant time during the 2024 season due to shoulder issues but was one of the key cogs in the Rangers’ championship bullpen in 2023. It’s still unclear if he’ll be ready for the start of the 2025 season, but it’s nice to see the Rangers show continued faith in him. Sborz registered a 3.86 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 17/4 K/BB ratio over 16 1/3 innings during the 2024 campaign.

The deal also includes incentives that could run the total a bit higher. It’s actually a step down from the $3.325 million that Dunning earned during the 2024 season wherein he struggled to a 5.31 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and a 91/40 K/BB ratio across 95 innings in 26 appearances (15 starts). Whether or not he’ll have any deep league fantasy value in 2025 will be determined by how he fares in his battle for a spot in the Rangers’ crowded starting rotation.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #73
Boushley augments the Rangers’ relief depth heading into next season after making a pair of relief appearances last year for the Twins. The 31-year-old righty has bounced around the last few seasons between the Padres, Brewers and Twins since 2021. He doesn’t miss a ton of bats, which limits his upside, but he represents serviceable emergency relief depth, which doesn’t seem like a big deal until a club desperately needs it.

Teodo is now officially protected from selection in next month’s Rule 5 Draft, where he certainly would’ve been gobbled up by another club. He was a revelation last season at Double-A Frisco, compiling a microscopic 1.98 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 110/50 K/BB ratio across 86 1/3 innings (20 appearances, 19 starts). The hard-throwing 23-year-old righty, who started the All-Star Futures Game back in July, projects as a potential impact high-leverage reliever for fantasy purposes at the highest level. He’s a name to watch, especially in dynasty leagues, if he makes the transition to a full-time relief role.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #68
This one doesn’t count as an official AFL outing, but if it did, Church would have finished up with a 3.11 ERA and a 13/1 K/BB ratio over 8 2/3 innings. He has a chance of emerging as a setup man or perhaps even a closing candidate for the Rangers next year.
  • Curvelo officially joins the Rangers after it was reported Sunday that the 24-year-old would be joining the Rangers. He’s coming off a fantastic season in Double-A Arkansas with a 2.57 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and a 78/18 K/BB ratio over his 66 2/3 innings of work. He’ll get a chance to win a spot in the Texas bullpen, and he may have the stuff to be a high-leverage reliever.
  • The 24-year-old has elected free agency after toiling in the minor leagues for the Mariners for the past six seasons. He was brilliant at Double-A Arkansas in 2024 — registering a 2.57 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and a 78/18 K/BB ratio over his 66 2/3 innings of work. Despite the fact that he has yet to play above Double-A ball, Curvelo has been a very popular name on the open market. The Rangers seem to think that he can jump right in and help their bullpen immediately.
  • TEX General Manager #32
Schumaker spent the last two years managing the Marlins and will head to the Rangers in a front office role. It’s possible he’ll attract some interest from other clubs for their managerial vacancies, but it appears likely he’ll wind up as the successor for future Hall of Fame skipper Bruce Bochy in Texas once he’s finally ready to retire for good.
  • FA Starting Pitcher #17
Eovaldi declined his $20 million option with the Rangers for 2025 and will be one of the more sought after hurlers on the market. Atlanta has needs in its rotation even before considering the potential loss of Max Fried, so this fit makes a lot of sense on paper. Eovaldi has had issues in terms of durability, but he’s been very effective whenever he’s been on the bump.
