Piña, 25, went 13-8 with a 4.14 ERA and a 132/27 K/BB in 129 1/3 innings between Double- and Triple-A in the Phillies system last season. He’s currently sporting a 1.61 ERA and a 21/2 K/BB over 22 1/3 innings in the Dominican Winter League. Since the Marlins rotation is likely to deal with injuries once again, Piña could be a useful depth piece.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #44
Those players include three likely members of the rotation in Jesús Luzardo, Edward Cabrera, Braxton Garrett, as well as outfielder Jesús Sánchez, catcher Nick Fortes and reliever Anthony Bender. No one from the group stood out as a non-tender candidate, but the Marlins might have let Luzardo or Garrett go if they were particularly worried about the state of their arms after they missed much of last season. Fortes will also get to stick around after his improved finish, though it’d be great if he were pushed into a backup role by either Agustin Ramirez or an outside acquisition.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #90
Fulton missed all of the 2024 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He’s expected to be ready for the start of the 2025 campaign. Serna was acquired in the Jazz Chisholm Jr. trade and hit 251/.337/.414 over three levels with 15 homers and 15 stolen bases.
  • MIA First Baseman #70
De Los Santos was a Rule 5 Draft pick last year by the Guardians, but he didn’t make the team and was returned to Arizona. He went on to have a strong campaign in the minors with 40 homers, and was traded to Miami for AJ Puk. De Los Santos has flaws, but has enough offensive upside to have some fantasy relevance someday. He could make his debut in 2025.
  • MIA Left Fielder #27
Hernandez spent the last few years with the Rays after coming over from the Rangers back in 2020 as one of the ancillary components of the Nathaniel Lowe swap. The 24-year-old outfielder batted .234/.344/.496 with 23 round-trippers and five steals in 428 plate appearances last year between Double-A Montgomery and Triple-A Durham.
  • MIA Second Baseman #36
Simon, 24, will join Miami from the Tampa Bay organization. In 2024, the 24-year-old hit .283/.356/.429 with 20 stolen bases for Triple-A Durham. There’s not a ton of pop in his bat, but he can slash the baseball and run while also being able to play multiple positions. It’s not crazy to think he could make the Marlins with a strong showing in Jupiter.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #86
The 25-year-old right-hander was claimed off of waivers from the Reds on November 1. Roa finished the 2024 season on the 60-day injured list with a right shoulder sprain after posting a 5.55 ERA and a 47/30 K/BB ratio across 48 2/3 innings at Triple-A Louisville. The move frees up another spot on the Marlins’ 40-man roster — which is now down to 37 players — as they attempt to decide who to protect for the upcoming Rule 5 draft.
  • The move was rumored over the weekend and now it has become official. The 44-year-old McCullough spent the past four seasons as the Dodgers’ first base coach under Dave Roberts and spent six years before that as the club’s minor league field coordinator. McCullough has interviewed for managerial jobs before and was a finalist for the Kansas City Royals managing job that went to Matt Quatraro two years ago. He will be tasked with taking over a Marlins team that just lost 100 games in the 2024 season.
  • LAD First Base Coach
The Marlins have reportedly agreed to hire Dodgers’ first base coach Clayton McCullough to be their manager and it looks like he’s wasting no time in assembling his staff. Guerrero, 35, spent the past three seasons as an assistant hitting coach for the Giants. Prior to that, he served in the same role for the Phillies. In both roles, he was hired by manager Gabe Kapler — now the assistant general manager with the Marlins.
  • LAD First Base Coach
It’s the first managerial job for the 44-year-old, though he has interviewed for many openings over the past couple of seasons. McCullough spent the past four seasons as the Dodgers’ first base coach under Dave Roberts and spent six years prior to that as the club’s minor league field coordinator. He’ll take over the helm of a Marlins’ team that lost 100 games under Skip Schumaker during the 2024 campaign, so he’ll definitely have his work cut out for him. It wouldn’t be surprising if McCullough attempted to poach some of his Dodgers’ colleagues as he builds his staff over the next few weeks.
